The Beauty of Otepuni Gardens.
Otepuni Gardens in Invercargill was traditionally the city’s main park, it came complete with aviaries, display houses and a nursery. Otepuni Gardens are on the banks of the stopbanks along the Otepuni Stream. A few minutes’ walk from the hustle and bustle of the city’s central business district, Otepuni Gardens covers 9.4 hectares and encompasses four city blocks. Once you are on the winding path you feel like you are far away from the city, it is a time to unwind and listen to the birds. There are plenty of seats where you can sit and relax a while, read a book or simply watch the birdlife around you. There are several different parts to the gardens, virtually a surprise around each corner. To walk the entire way around will see you crossing over side streets before being enveloped back into nature. If you are looking for a quick lunchtime getaway we can highly recommend a stroll around Otepuni Garden, one of Invercargill historic parks.
